UArts 150 is the one course required for all participants in the Living ArtsEngine program at the University of Michigan.

UArts 150 satisfies the First Year Writing Requirement at UM with a series of creativity-based essays.

The course extends the concept of interdisciplinary creativity from the Living ArtsEngine program. Each project requires creative expression in Art, Architecture, Music, Writing, and Engineering. Each project also requires skills of teamwork and communication, and the skills of entrepreneurship and cultural awareness are encouraged to make good games.

2019’s UArts 150 course was centered around video games. Each essay focused on video games, and the course culminated in team-created video game projects built in MIT’s Scratch visual block programming language.

One such essay was a close-reading of a video game with an argument.
